Campaign Of The Month - June

The Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), a nonprofit environmental education organization, is dedicated to educating children and adults in the New York metropolitan area, protecting and preserving Alley Pond Park, open spaces and waterbodies, and advocating for sustainable environmental policies and practices.

On Tuesday, August 28, 2012, APEC will be hosting “Busy, Busy, Bees!", to celebrate National Honey Bee Week and to raise awareness about these wonderful pollinators. This event will be open to children ages 4-10. The children will get ready to buzz around APEC learning all about bees! They will meet a real bee keeper, make bees wax candles, sample honey, plant bee friendly seeds, play bee games, have photo opportunities and more surprises. We will also have a special Story Circle featuring the book “In the Trees, Honey Bees!”

We are looking for support for our event - we already have bees wax lip balm in children's flavors and Honey Bees Children's Cookbooks being donated. Any support that will help us educate children about the importance of honey bees would be appreciated! We are expecting upto 50 children at our event.

If you are able to help in any way, please contact Karen Pierro via the 'email us' link in the left hand 'Our Location' box on our website: http://alleypond.com/index.html

Thank you,
